Mr Chong has been practicing as an advocate and solicitor for more than 30 years. His practice covered a wide range of interests. Having worked in large to mid-size firms before setting up his own practice in 2000, Mr Chong's legal experience covered a wide range of areas such as corporate advisory and property transactions, civil and commercial litigation, criminal defence works to alternative dispute resolutions such as mediation, adjudication and arbitration.
Examples of the varied types of work include receivership, acquisition and disposal of shares, business and assets, listing exercise of companies at the local stock exchange, matrimonial disputes, real estate conveyancing, labour and industrial law disputes, professional negligence, tortious liability claims, drug trafficking, murder and kidnapping cases, illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, sedition, gender reassignment case, defamation, construction disputes etc.
His current work is more focused on general legal advisory services, civil and commercial litigation, criminal defence work, construction adjudication and arbitration cases as well as sitting as an adjudicator and arbitrator. His firm also handles conveyancing of landed properties.
Mr Chong is an accredited Adjudicator and Arbitrator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK. He is also an accredited Arbitrator on the Panel of ADR Practitioners of the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AiADR).
In addition to his own legal practice, Mr Chong also serves as Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee appointed by the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board. Mr Chong is also a Notary Public and a Commissioner for Oaths.
